Community events
Second Saturday “Birthday Bash”
On the second Saturday of every month, BHSS holds a bbq party celebrating all of the birthdays in the community. Participants can receive plates of barbecue chicken or hamburgers and hot dogs along with sides and drinks, and enjoy music, seasonal bonfires, raffle giveaways and Dominoes tournaments with a cash prize. The festivities begin at 6 p.m.
Thursday “Coffee and Cuts”
Each Thursday, the Street Sanctuary host gatherings with hot drinks, pastries, and haircuts, from 9 a.m. to noon. Once a month the Los Angeles Public Library joins us providing book giveaways, library card signups and other resources.
Free Your Mind Fridays
Following a full day of week prep and community outreach (volunteers are welcome on Fridays from noon to 5 p.m.), Pastor Blue hosts a casual, therapeutic community conversation surrounding a rotating topic — ie “Home,” “Anger” or “Freedom.” Bring your favorite drink and show up for thought-provoking community bonding at 6 p.m. each Friday.
Monday Yoga Class @ Umeya
Join us just down the street at Umeya Building (425 S. Towne) for a free BHSS-hosted yoga and breathing session for all bodies and experience levels. First and third Mondays of the month from 4-5 p.m.
